Like I said before, I was really digging into the notation editor, and it seems a little flakey - I couldn't for the life of me enter triplets.

I did ask Dan to add MIDI step recording. Update: I'm experimenting with the notation view in Mixcraft, and and it is a little awkward, however, they have managed to innovate in a major way: each note on the staff has a light grey duration bar indicating the actual duration of the note, regardless of what the visual quantizing displays. Cubase have done a pretty good job as well. And I'm not really interested so much in printing as I am in editing. I think GarageBand's (Logic) notation view is pretty darn good. Here, Acoustica, with I assume a small staff of developers, takes Mixcraft from no notation editor to having one in about a year - and that's on top of all the other improvements they made. A loop centric sequencer with tons of content, Acid and Apple Loop support, audio and MIDI recording, piano roll editing, and some pretty impressive B3, Minimoog, piano, soft instruments. I'd read Craig's upbeat review of version 4 some time ago, and it seemed pretty cool - very similar to Steinberg's Sequel.
